Although ordinary sunglasses
reduce brightness, they do not remove reflected glare. To
protect your eyes you need polarized sunglasses that
eliminate glare from reflective surfaces, and reduce
transmission of harmful sunlight. Polarized lenses are the
ultimate in protection, comfort and performance in the sun.
HOW THEY WORK
A polarized lens has a polarized
film that is cast into a lens to filter out unwanted light.
Light normally travels in many different directions. When
light hits a reflective surface like water, snow and sand,
it becomes concentrated in one direction, resulting in
reflected glare. The principle of a polarized lens is best
illustrated by observing the use of venetian blinds. The
blind blocks light at certain angles, while allowing light
to transmit through select angles. True polarization is
achieved by shutting out 100% of undesirable light (glare)
and allowing 100% of desired light through.
BENEFITS OF POLARIZED
LENSES
Comfort: Polarized lenses
reduce eyestrain, squinting and eye fatigue associated with
glare, for more comfortable vision in the sun.
Performance: Polarized
lenses enhance visual performance by increasing visual
acuity and improving color contrast. Reduction of glare
causes objects to become more distinct and colors more
vibrant.
Protection: Polarized
lenses provide superior protection for the eye against
harmful sunlight including glare and UV light. Certain
polarized colors also reduce high-energy visible (HEV)
light, which can cause damage to the retina.

PerfectPOLAR technology is a type
of in-mold lens process developed exclusively by Specialty
Lens Corporation. PerfectPOLAR technology uses a proprietary
molecular bonding process, which produces polarized lenses
with the highest levels of polarization, lowest internal
stress and superior film bonding. The process imparts no
haze into the lens for superior clarity. |
